Entrada de blog Fantabulous means...

30 Agosto 2010

What is the definition of "fantabulous"? It means "great". So, now you understand the phrase - "The new Freerice has fantabulous features!"

Over the last few years we have been listening to all the suggestions and ideas you have been emailing to us, and we have quietly been working on realising the most interesting, useful and inspiring feedback. Now we can finally share it with all of you.

The most important difference from the previous version is that you now can sign up as a user on Freerice, and gain access to all of these new features:

Invite your friends (The more the merrier)
Inviting friends is not just about having more fun - it also means that more rice gets donated. The strength of Freerice and the 10 grains you earn with every correct answer lies in the power of the collective.

You can now invite friends from Facebook and follow them by clicking on the link in your < a href="http://beta.freerice.com/user/me/edit">"Edit Profile" page, as well as follow other people on Freerice by searching for them and then clicking on the link on their profile page to "Follow User" link on their profile page.

The best part of this is tracking totals to see how well you are doing compared to your friends!

Create a group
Creating groups is possibly the most exciting and interesting feature. You can now create groups (as many as you like) that are open or by invitation only. Open means anyone on Freerice can join. For a closed group you will need to invite your members via your Facebook friends list or you can share the invite link that is available when you edit the group.

Groups allow you to see how much of an impact your friends or network are having on the lives of people around the world. It also allows for tournaments - with groups from around the world competing against each other. As an example, you could easily hold a school or inter-school tournament.

Competitions in the workplace? You can also include an external link, allowing brands and companies to do good in the world, as well as promote themselves (particularly if they earn record breaking amounts of rice)! And at the same time, improving the word-smarts of their employees.

Track your totals
By signing up, you can now track your rice total over a period of time by year, month and the most rice donated in a day. Tracking your totals means that you are also able to compare yourself with other players in the Player Rankings List.

Share it with the world
You can share your scores and achievements on your social networks - not only to brag about how intelligent you might be and how dedicated you are towards helping feed the world's hungry. This also helps to spread the word about Freerice and helps us to increase the amount of grains being donated.

We can’t get enough of your ideas and comments!
Finally, we have added a "Feedback" button to the left of your screen (take look now, and you will see the orange tab).

This tab allows you to keep giving the fantabulous feedback that helped these new features develop, it allows other players to vote on your feedback so that we have a real sense of what the community needs and wants, and ensures that your voice is heard.

We will make sure to reply to your feedback, so keep proposing great ideas for future development.

Thank you all so much for being part of the Freerice community, for all the time you spend donating rice through your wits and for sharing for sharing the game with others! You are what makes this game the success it is today.
