Blog entry Freerice Inspired Poetry
They then added their poems to the comments on Facebook or tweeted their poem at Freerice. Here are the inspiring poems we received - not all of them followed the traditional Haiku format, but there were too good not to share!
"Want to curve your mind?
Then listen to words of time.
Give rice to give life."
- Ednita Vargas
"I try to scribble
Odd words on ragged pages
Recant the wrong ones."
- Sarah MacLean
"Organize With Exercise,
having the biggest meal: Feel it
Happy. I think it's not ok :) but I just wanna joy"
- Nutty Thumd
"Calm and cool
I sat there and say:
There is darkness behind death,
and There is something else behind that.
first is intolerable, second is just a guess."
- Mohsen Rajabi

Great poems, I enjoyed them a lot :)
Being selfless -- need not move mountains
The heart, it whispers
These poems are great!
Thank you to all for such beautiful poetry! Please keep them coming?
@RainingGrains10 / Natalie, we've shared your poem on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/freerice/posts/143075419166138
A twinkling light in the dark,
A bright, vivid color in the black,
A bit of hope in hopelessness,
Only you can be these beautiful things,
So let your inner unparalleled beauty be
Projected around you like the light of a star,
And you can change the World
ten years old
wow so nice to help other people right
go on donating~
I like these all~
My heart hurts to see,
Not many truly care about humanity,
My eyes can cry,
Yet people still die,
What can I do ?
Not much...but sometimes just the feeling is enough,
Enough to keep me up,
Enough to know I can't give up !!
The grace one feels here
It is everlasting bliss
A poor soul left healed
I absolutely enjoy Freerice and do it in my free time. It makes me feel absolutely wonderful to know that I am helping someone else out there that needs my help!
Last night I ate some fish...
... but then I thought, "This isn't what's on every dish..."
So I went online...
To kill some time...
And guess I found!
A few years ago...
On this news show...
...they said we could end hunger with a fun and plain site.
I looked and looked, with all my might
and I found Freerice.com!!
I played all day. I even told my Mom!!
So belive it or not, here I am... and this last sentence isn't gonna rhyme, but who cares? Lol. I liked the poetry, so I sat down for about five munuts and I made this up.
Not really a haiku, but an ok (not very good) poem:
'Click click' goes the mouse.
As i tap away in my house.
up and up, the grains go.
The people in africa must know..
In small amounts, help is here !
So we, the helpers, can sit, have a beer.
Giving, answering, all day....
See, not very good, haha, back to donating !!!!! :)
Freerice is awesome
I am not averse to it
Freerice is so cool
I give to you time.
My knowledge, your food to eat.
So that we both grow.
tell friends 'bout this site
let generosity be
the bowl is empty
but now it is full
staving off hunger for all children
compassion can feed us all worldwide, now
